Brief Overview
We are seeking an intern to provide evaluation support for the MA CHHA Funds.

Position Description
The Massachusetts Community Health and Healthy Aging Funds (MA CHHA Funds) are committed to disrupting and removing barriers to health – structural and institutional racism, poverty, and deep power imbalances – through community-centered policy, systems, and environmental change approaches. We provide the resources to enhance the capacity of multi-sector collaboratives to authentically engage residents and work together so that everyone has the highest quality of life possible in Massachusetts.

This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a vibrant and growing public health organization and contribute to an interdepartmental and interagency project team to promote health and racial equity through evaluation. This internship may be used to fulfill a practicum requirement. This position will be an approximately 20 hours per week paid ($25/hour) internship, taking place in the summer, with flexibility depending on candidate's availability and course of study or program requirements.

The candidate will primarily work with members part of MA CHHA Funds team – including the grantmaking and evaluation team, who are part of HRiA’s Grantmaking and R&E Department, respectively.

The MA CHHAF Evaluation intern will focus on evaluation activities of the Funds and provide research- related support for the project. This internship will provide the opportunity to engage in MA CHHA Funds work, and be exposed to real-world public health work, including community engagement, grantmaking, interagency collaborative teams, communication, and evaluation.

Duties and Responsibilities
While this position will be involved in a variety of tasks, primary duties will include:

Data Collection and Management
• Providing logistical and organizational support for Year 2 evaluation activities for the Funds (e.g., transcription of notes from site visits, etc.)
• Conducting qualitative analysis and identification of themes for awardees
• Creating draft PowerPoint presentations, reports, other deliverables of research findings for an overarching report and 32 individual reports/ summaries for awardees
• Completing research-related administrative tasks when needed (e.g., formatting reports)
• Developing, administering and analyzing a survey for MA CHHA Funds Advisory Committee members
Support Furthering Equitable Evaluations
• Conducting draft literature review or environmental scan (including searching academic databases and online directories, reading and synthesizing published studies and organizational reports) on equitable evaluation practices
Other MCHHAF Funds support
• Attending project meetings, as appropriate, and performing other related duties

Candidate Qualifications
• Familiarity with qualitative and quantitative research
• Current student in degree-seeking program (four-year college or graduate-level program) in public health or public health-related field
• A commitment to racial and health equity, and diversity of thought, backgrounds, and perspectives
• Current knowledge or willingness to learn virtual communication platforms including Zoom, Microsoft teams
• Current knowledge of Microsoft software, specifically MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Strong storytelling, communication and interpersonal skills and can take personal initiative and exercise independent judgment
• Able to work independently and as a part of a team
• Flexibility and a sense of humor

This position will be supervised by a Director in the Research & Evaluation Department.
